About the Artist

Robert Rahway Zakanitch is a fine artist who lives and works in New York City. He was awarded a Guggenheim Foundation Grant, and his work is represented in many well-known collections, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, the Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.

The paintings for Our Farm: By the Animals of Farm Sanctuary (Knopf) were inspired and informed by the poems and by the many photographs Maya sent from the farm.
